Quote & Fact...

Quote:

"May we think of freedom, not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right."

"The use of the right word, the exact word, is the difference between a pencil with a sharp point and a thick crayon."

~ Peter Marshall

Facts: (Unique Town/City Names)

North Carolina :

Fuquay-Varina - (pronounced: FYOO-kway vuh-REE-nuh) Originally named Varina a"May we think of freedom, not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right." ~ Peter Marshall named the town Varina after a woman that the postmaster was sweet for. Later Fuquay was added because Frenchman William Fuquay first settled in the small farming town. (I guess he just wanted to get Fuquay. Tacky? Probably. Do I care? Not in the slightest.)

Waxhaw - Named after the indigenous Native American tribe who lived there prior to colonial settlement. (Not going to make fun of it. Every language has something that sounds... Wrong or funny in their native tongue. Proof: Chin-chin is a toast in Italy... In Japan it's what a child would call the... Male anatomy between his legs.)
